FAQ

Q: How are your programs structured? A: I keep it as simple as possible; once you’ve booked a program, I’ll share a google doc with you that includes your homework for our 1:1 meetings. We’ll discuss each week’s homework on our calls. For my signature program, we’ll meet five times in five weeks, ideally the same day/time each week. For my 'Help, I got an interview!' miniprogram, we'll get your first session scheduled as soon as possible - priority scheduling is included! For more details, visit 'programs' via the main menu above.

Q: Who is a great fit for your programs? A: My programs are designed with thoughtful, intentional, and self-aware professionals in mind. If you have a growth (rather than fixed) mindset with respect to your skills and intelligence, if you are capable (but maybe more capable than you think!), believe in doing your best, and tend to invest in what's important for you in the long term, my programs will likely be a good fit (and I'm already looking forward to our confirmation call)!

Q: Who's not a great fit for your programs? A: Working with me is not a good fit if you're looking for a shortcut or easy answers, uninterested in self-reflection and introspection, uninterested in working towards effective communication, unwilling to engage with ambiguity, or unready to invest financially and emotionally in personal growth.

Q: What do you not do? A: I don't do cover letter/resume/cv editing, I can't tell you exactly what questions will be asked (my crystal ball always seems to be broken!), and I won't necessarily be able to answer industry-specific questions. In other words, while I am an expert in the process we'll be going through together, I may not be familiar with your specific field.

Q: When should I start your full program? A: In a perfect world, we'd start working together as soon as you know you want to change jobs! Interview confidence provides a cushion against the stress and disappointment of the entire job hunt; you'll feel more excited about applying for jobs, you'll feel increased optimism about your future prospects, and the inevitable disappointment of not getting the jobs you don't get will be blunted. It also makes the tedium of preparing application materials more tolerable, because you will be looking forward to the next step of the process, instead of dreading it. That being said, even if the best time to plant a tree was 100 years, ago, the second best time is today. I will be delighted to work with you at any point!

Q: How much time will I need to spend on homework each week? A: There’s no right or wrong amount, but in general you will get out of it what you put in. That being said, it also depends on your learning/writing style. We can talk about your specific strategy in our free call, but in general I recommend these steps: 1) look at the next week’s homework immediately after our call 2) give yourself time to think about it 3) block out time in your schedule to write. If at all possible 4) come back to what you’ve written the next day so you can look at it with fresh eyes. Personally, I am a heavy planner - I need a ton of time to think about things before I feel ready to write! But, if you think as you write, you would want to get right to step three. Important note: this is process writing, so there’s no need to worry about spelling, grammar, or even to write in complete sentences.

Q: I’m pretty busy, do we really need to meet every week or can we stretch it out? A: Ideally, we will meet at the same day and time for five weeks in a row. This structure gives you the opportunity to dig in, get in the groove, and work consistently, keeping in mind that you’ll likely be invited to an interview any day now! That being said, if you are on a longer timeframe and meeting every week just isn’t feasible, meeting every two weeks is an option.

Q: I don't have five weeks! Can we do it faster? A: Sure! If you can make the time to move through the material faster, I'm happy to support that, schedule permitting.

Q: Help! I already have an interview scheduled. Can you still help me? A: Congratulations on getting an interview! And yes, my 'Help! I got an interview!' miniprogram (see 'programs' in the main menu above) is designed for you. Priority scheduling is included. Reach out through the contact form below, and we'll get you scheduled asap!
